Every session includes access to a 200-piece in-studio wardrobe collection, so clients regularly arrive with nothing but themselves and leave with a full gallery. You are welcome to bring your own lingerie or personal pieces too, but it is never a requirement.

Why most boudoir studios tell you to bring your own outfits

If you have researched boudoir photography before, you have likely read the standard advice: bring two to three matching lingerie sets, a pair of heels, maybe a robe. 

That is genuinely good guidance for studios that operate that way, and it works. But it also means the client is doing a lot of the pre-session lifting alone: guessing what will photograph well, shopping under time pressure, and worrying about whether what is in the shopping bag is “right.”

At our Carlsbad studio, that step is optional rather than required, because the wardrobe is already here.

What's actually in the studio wardrobe collection?

The 200+ piece collection spans a wide range of sizes, colors, and styles, from classic lingerie sets and bodysuits to robes and more relaxed pieces for clients who want a softer, less overtly “boudoir” look. It is curated specifically for how fabric and texture read on camera, which is a different standard than how a piece looks on a hanger or under store lighting.

Because the wardrobe lives on site, the styling team can bring out several options during the session itself and adjust based on what the camera is actually responding to, rather than being limited to whatever fit in your bag that morning.

Should I still bring my own lingerie or clothing?

If you want to, yes. Many clients bring one sentimental piece, something a partner picked out, an anniversary gift, or a garment tied to a specific milestone, and the team incorporates it alongside the studio wardrobe. Others bring nothing at all and rely entirely on the in-studio collection. Both approaches are common, and neither is treated as the “better” way to do a session.

What if I don't know what will look good on me?

This is the most common concern clients raise before their session, and it is exactly what the on-site wardrobe solves. Instead of guessing at home in front of a mirror, you try things on in the studio with the hair and makeup team already done and the photographer present. If a color is not working or a silhouette does not feel right, it gets swapped for something else in the moment. Nothing about wardrobe choice happens in isolation before the shoot.

Is the wardrobe collection included in the price, or is it an add-on?

Do I need to clean or return wardrobe pieces?

No. Care and cleaning of the shared wardrobe between clients is handled entirely by the studio. Your only job is to show up and try things on. If you bring your own pieces, those simply go home with you as usual.
