Two people one story

A session that celebrates the two of you, exactly as you are together. This isn’t a stiff anniversary photo. It’s an experience built around real connection, the way you actually look at each other when no one’s watching.

My private boudoir studio in Carlsbad is where couples come to slow down, be close, and walk away with images that feel like you two, not a stock photo of “romance.”

Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, marking a new chapter, or just want proof of what this love looks like right now, a couples session is one of the most meaningful things you can do together.

Love is already the art. I'm just there to see it.

why couples choose a boudoir session together

Couples choose a boudoir session together because it captures something a phone photo or a wedding album never quite does: the actual, unposed way two people belong to each other. It’s not about performing for the camera. It’s about carving out an hour where you’re not parents, not professionals, not managing a to-do list together, just two people who chose each other, being close on purpose. Some come to mark an anniversary or an engagement. Others come after a hard season, a move, a new baby, a loss, a long stretch of being too busy to really look at each other, and want proof that the connection is still there, underneath everything. Whatever brings them in, the result is the same: images that don’t just show what you look like together, but what it feels like.

What love looks like, up close

Real love isn’t a highlight reel. It’s the way you tilt your head into their shoulder without thinking about it, the hand that finds theirs, the look that happens in the half-second before you both start laughing. That’s what a couples boudoir session is built to capture: not a posed anniversary photo, but the small, true moments that make up an actual relationship. Nothing performed, nothing borrowed from someone else’s idea of romance. Just the two of you, exactly as close as you really are, held in images you’ll still want to look at years from now.

couples boudoir explained

We know a couplees boudoir session can feel like a big step. Here are the questions we hear most often from our clients.

Is this the same as erotic photography?
No. Couples boudoir is tasteful, artful, and intimate, focused on connection and confidence rather than explicit content. Every session is guided with care so the images feel elegant and true to you.
No. Guiding two people at once is exactly what Monique does. You’ll be directed the whole time.
Not at all. We photograph couples at every stage: new relationships, decades together, engaged, married, or simply committed. This is about your connection, not your paperwork.
Completely normal, and common. Our studio and process are built to ease both partners in. Most couples say the nerves are gone within the first fifteen minutes.
Nothing is required in advance. Our 200+ piece wardrobe collection has options for both of you, though you’re welcome to bring your own pieces too.
Yes. Many clients do both, either the same day or across separate visits. We can talk through the best structure for your goals during your consultation.
Couples sessions tend to fill up around anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, and milestone dates, so a few weeks’ notice is ideal, though we always encourage reaching out even on a tighter timeline.
